Since 2019, Koretta Brown has led efforts to reduce recidivism, support families impacted by the justice system, and increase civic engagement in underserved communities. Driven by her lived experience and passion for second chances, Koretta created Bridges to Empowerment to help people become their better selves through advocacy, education, and support. Her leadership continues to build pathways to opportunity, equity, and lasting change.
Michael Spates is a dedicated social justice advocate, mentor, and community leader committed to empowering individuals impacted by the justice system. With a strong background in counseling, restorative justice, and youth development, Michael has spent years organizing and mentoring through Bridges to Empowerment, helping community members build leadership and advocacy skills. His experience includes providing individual and group counseling, developing voter engagement canvassing plans, and supporting families through his work with various restorative justice ministries. Michael is passionate about healing-centered engagement, community empowerment, and creating pathways for successful reintegration and long-term change.
LaShalyn Brown is a dedicated community leader and organizer with a strong background in non-partisan civic engagement, youth leadership development, and grassroots mobilization. As a Data Organizer with Bridges to Empowerment, she leads regional outreach efforts, recruits and manages volunteer teams, and implements data-driven strategies to expand community participation. She is known for her ability to build strong community relationships, manage field operations, and drive impactful, community-centered change.
